Gonna Wrap You Up In My Love

Unwrapped - benefit for PICA, Winter 2008

PICA‘s annual winter party and benefit is this Thursday, December 6 at Aura (1022 W Burnside). As is PICA’s inclusive way, this is a bipartite event with room for the players (who will throw down $75 each for a 7 PM entry…silent auction, hors d’oeuvres, &c.) and the proletariat (artists) who are welcome at 10 PM for $10. Word was Mr. Reggie Watts was doing an early performance, but now it looks like he’ll call it a comeback and do a late performance as well along with DJ Othertempo. Yes, yes.

The silent auction is speaking our language with a cape designed by Adam Arnold, goods from OFFICE PDX and Stand Up Comedy, the Ace Hotel and Eartha Kitt?!?

Perhaps you are not acquainted with PICA. If you need a reason to come out and support the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art we offer up the Time-Based Art Festival that PICA produces annually in September, bringing in interesting (and sometimes sensational) contemporary national and international performing artists (DJ Spooky, Yubiwah Hotel, Eduard Locke, Lone Twin) as well as, in recent TBA Fests, showcasing some of Portland’s best, like Sincerely, John Head, Tahni Holt, Linda Austin, Melia Donovan, and Andrew Dickson. PICA stokes the fires, cross-pollinates, shines the spot, issues the invitation, and we thank them one and all.
