Barry Sanders at PDX Contemporary in The Classroom
Do not miss this.
As part of Anna Gray and Ryan Wilson Paulsen’s exhibition The Classroom at PDX Contemporary Art (925 NW Flanders), Barry Sanders, PNCA’s writer-in-residence, gives a short talk called To Live Is To Live Beyond Our Means, Saturday at 11 AM. Sanders is a treasure and we and PNCA are lucky to have him in Portland. Here’s a rare opportunity for those of us who are not part of the PNCA community to hear Sanders speak.
Barry Sanders is the of author fourteen books, and has been nominated for two Pulitzer Prizes. Once for his book ‘A is for Ox: Violence, Ele…ctronic Media, and the Silencing of the Written Word’ and again for ‘Alienable Rights: The Exclusion of African Americans in a White Man’s Land, 1619-2000′. He was professor of History of Ideas and English a Pitzer College. He is currently writer-in-residence at PNCA and is working on a new book about the death of metaphor.

I met him today. I can see why now. Death of metaphor? Does he do coffee?
