Louis Doulas for Engrave Your Book
This leads to that. Here’s another ancilliary benefit that came out of Ken Tomita’s Project Chaboo (which brought together half of design/art Portland): introductions to non-furniture-making creatives who are, if not new, then new to me. It just so happens that one of the photographers involved in the show (who took many of the excellent portraits that introduced us to the artists/designers involved in the Project) was Joe Mansfield. His Portland-based company, Engrave Your Tech does custom engravings on iPods, MacBooks, and other shiny stuff with silicon inside.
But what I’m really into is his custom Moleskine notebook project. He’d apparently been engraving the Moleskine covers themselves until he found out that process was tox-ic! The new Engrave Your Book is an artists’ series of engraved leather covers for two sizes of Moleskine notebooks with artists from around the world dishing up great graphics. Thanks for the intro, Ken.
