Run Away Fashion Show Photos

Friday night was the Runaway fashion/music/art show at the Someday Lounge and what a show it was.
But what about the clothes? There were dozens of fresh looks for spring from a handful of Portland designers—Gretchen Jones of Moth Love, Emily Katz, Emily Baker of sword + fern, Dust by Julia Blackburn, and Reif by Lindsay Reif—pieces that you know urban girls are going wear every day, styling them every which way. Notably, there were a lot of earth tones, comforting, understated…a harbinger of the New Sobriety, perhaps?
Thanks to Josh Elliott for photos.
First up, separates and a super dress in creamy white by Emily Katz worn with jewelry by sword + fern. Katz has the basics down pat, with notable details like pleated trim at the pocket.

Gretchen Jones work for her label Moth Love is every bit as much about the killer accessories (necklace, headpiece, belt) as about the jersey basics (little dress, romper). I love this wide leather belt with feathers embedded in it: it’s dramatic, very current, bears a second look with the feather detail, and is made with vegetable tanned leather. And I am wild about Jones’ cardigans trimmed in fur. Mostly, I want to see this up close/in real life (as opposed to runway life). Jones did an astounding number of looks for the show including several pieces in a new-for-her muted botanical print. The hood, here is by Greta Rommelfanger who did pieces just for the show.

A great fur-trimmed cardigan over brown jersey romper from Moth Love. Belt + lariat = !! The leather lariat is an excellent length.

Reif showed looks for men and women, shorts, shirts, vests, and interesting jackets for both genders like this one, now available at Foundation Garments:
Of Julia Blackburn’s looks these are the most stayed. Overall her work was a crafty bohemian multicultural mashup with frayed vertical strips of cloth, beading, braiding, smocking, fringe(s), and prints-on-prints.

Hi Tobi,
Thanks, I’m going to go back and edit this to reflect reality rather than educated guess! I saw leather and thought Gretchen as she’s been doing such great work in leather lately. I always appreciate any feedback so we can give credit where it’s due!
