Tokyo Rose: Compound + Adidas ZX

One of just a couple dozen elite boutiques around the world invited to participate in the Adidas Consortium group, Katsu Tanaka’s Compound (107 NW 5th) is set to introduce the first product from this collaboration, the limited edition Tokyo Rose. Each Consortium partner has customized an Adidas ZX running shoe and Compound chose the ZX500 as part of the AZX project.

Portland is all over this shoe, inside and out, from the Compound logo on the laces to the map of Old Town with an arrow pointing to Compound at 5th and Couch on the insole. There’s a lasered pattern of roses for the “City of.” Dark denim is deployed AND the honeycomb ripstop is not unlike the Compound logo. It’s very good. Very thorough.
The launch party on September 19 from 6-9 PM at Holocene (1001 SE Morrison) introduces not only the Tokyo Rose Adidas ZX, but also the mysterioso A.N. Other Project (ANO) a new apparel company that we’ll surely hear more about anon.
