Audrey Tatou will play Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel on the rise in the new film directed by Anne Fontaine, Coco Avant Chanel. The film focuses on her life in the years before her namesake house became an all-caps fashion icon; the people and experiences that shaped her outlook and aesthetic. Junebug star Alessandro Nivola will play Arthur “Boy” Capel, one of the great loves of her life who financed her house in the early days and who was killed in a car accident.
Any word on when it opens in theaters?
There is also another film coming soon, in September, about Chanel’s life. TV series will be broadcasting on Lifetime channel.
