1HUND(RED) Ways To Love Your Chucks
Current and former Portlanders Amy Ruppel and Ginger Jones (who designs the line Truffles and once was a co-owner of Denwave) are among an international roster of featured artists for Converse‘s Fall08 1HUND(RED) Artists footwear collection. 10% of the net wholesale price of these shoes goes to The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria based in Geneva, Switzerland.
Jones’ “Netted Together” Chuck Taylor All Star high top features a mesh overlay (which is probably the best detail we saw on any of the designs so far) and mosquito motif speaks to the story behind the project while Ruppel’s “Stitched Red Owl” (which isn’t on the Converse website yet but here’s a low-res peak at it) is classic whimsical Ruppel:
More PDX connections: We love the shoe by Megan Whitmarsh, a Los Angeles artist who was represented by Jenn Armbrust’s Motel gallery in Portland.

Any idea where I can get the Megan Whitmarsh pairs?
Leo,
I’m not sure if they’re released yet. I think on the Converse website I recall it saying something about the designs being released a few at a time.
those converse by megan whitemarsh are gorgeous. they’re limited edition and i can’t see to find out where to get them. do you know if they’re come out on sale yet?
I dont think converse is going to make my shoe (too expensive to make) i am selling a few pairs on ebay that they gave me — only size 9 men’s was made.
