I had planned to tell you that this is how we are going to get through one more grey day: marveling at directional knitwear by a Portland designer Jasmine Zamora, a student (!) at the Art Institute of Portland. I had planned to say that though the skies weigh heavily, there is the promise of cozying up in Zamora’s scultptural knitwear and killer wrap-y grey trousers (below).

But look up, the clouds have broken! And if you think you never want to see a cloud again, look forward to fall and picture yourself cocooned in her knits (handknit by the designer) with their corded collars, gathered and ruched sleeves, and those anemone-like pods gathered at shoulder and neckline. Zamora’s embrace of organic form and unexpected volume is among the bolder statements to come from the Art Institute. We can’t wait to see more.
See her work live at the Art Institute of Portland’s 10th Annual Fashion Show on June 15 at the Portland Art Museum.
