Forget-you-not, the Mercury Fashion Show this Sunday evening at 7 PM at the Wonder Ballroom with its unique American Idol-esque let-my-people-vote mechanism for awarding a cold cash prize to one of the designers based on audience voting. Would it be too far off to guess that girls in gold hot pants are a good direction for a designer to take in such a competition? (That’s a Tim Guenther photo of a look from the new Frejya, above, which should be one of the more interesting lines of the evening.) Actually, the range of designers is pretty broad, from nightclub to country club from both first-timers and vets. But rust-dyed silk has piqued our interest (Rio Wrenn), and we’re curious to see how In Love & Memory has evolved.
The event will feature both a runway show and a static display of work by each designer. And as far as we’re concerned, you can’t go wrong with gregarious fashion designer Adam Arnold as MC.
