Just as the film feast of the Northwest Film Center’s Portland International Film Festival wraps, you and yours are invited to a gala benefit for the NW Film Center and its parent organization, the Portland Art Museum in celebration of the 80th Academy Awards. You know Oscar would want you to trade in your pajamas, the remote control, and Fiddle Faddle for black tie, martinis, a five-course dinner, and the company of well-dressed art and film lovers.
The Young Patron’s Society of the Portland Art Museum hosts the event Sunday, February 24 at the Mark Building at the Museum with cocktails at 4 PM, dinner to coincide with the awards ceremony, and an after-party during which you can critique the Academy’s selections, the gowns, the florid songs, the odd-ball acceptance speech. Remember Rob Lowe dancing with Snow White? Oscars!
Tickets for the dinner ($125) or after-party ($25) are available at the door.
