Not To Be Missed: Entermodal Sample Sale

This is stealth luxury. This is knowing luxury. Instead of bells, whistles, and shiny things, there is quality and an integrity from the best Italian vegetable tanned leathers to ancient leatherworking techniques. Like only a very few European ateliers, Entermodal makes one bag from one hide. There is no assembly line. Each bag is handcut and sewn by one person. Every Entermodal wallet is completely handstitched. Every bag takes at least 10 hours to create and each of the bags in the Creative collection requires more than an entire workday of handstitching.

Until recently, there was only one way to get your hands on one of Entermodal’s deeply and sustainably luxurious leather bags if you live in Portland: travel. Although each bag is handmade here in a Pearl District studio, they were only available at a select few boutiques like Project No. 8 and Odin in New York, All Purpose in LA and Blackbird in Seattle. They’ll soon be in Fred Segal in LA and Takashimaya in NY and have been featured in Details and Good Magazine, but only Entermodal’s sleek flipcase wallets are at Canoe in Portland. (Of course, you, like others have, can contact the studio and arrange for a custom bag.)

Well this Friday, you’ll not only be able to finally see the full Entermodal collection in Portland, but you’ll be able to take one home for a fraction of the bag’s retail prices because this Friday, December 7 from 3-8 PM is Entermodal’s first Sample Sale and Open House at the studio (239 NW 13th, Suite 211).

And the reason that Entermodal is getting attention from the likes of the Sundance Festival, which will include Entermodal leather goods in all of its VIP gifts, is that designer Larry Olmstead has built the company and every bag on thoroughly considered sustainable principles.

At the sale expect to find a variety of bags including prototypes and some nearly perfect samples that have done duty on the above mentioned photo shoots. The samples will be sold at a discount, priced $100- $800.
