Never a Stitch Nor an End

For her solo show at Ogle (310 NW Broadway), Harvest Henderson has embroidered a number of these anatomical illustrations on found paper, a manila envelope, a paper bag. Parts of the anatomy to be bought or sold? What a radical idea…or is it? Henderson has been thinking about the consumerization of health and has addressed it in this beautiful suite of drawings in thread.
Henderson has done a number of interesting pieces recently centered on the word “this” like her pieces at Stumptown that included “THISILLUSION” and “THISENFRANCHISEMENT.” She continues that line of inquiry at a show this month at Los Angeles’ LittleBird Gallery with works like this:
