Perhaps in the afterglow of Portland Fashion Week you are thinking, I could do that. I should do that. If you are a high school senior, read on.

The rhymily named “The Art Institutes Passion For Fashion Competition (the name only gets better in the URL where it’s Prince-i-fied as “passion4fashion”) is a chance for high school seniors to win tuition to The Art Institute of their choice, here that would be The Art Institute of Portland which is our only comprehensive apparel/fashion design program (although PCC is providing a number of courses now). One can enter either in the Fashion Design competition or the Fashion Marketing & Merchandising and Retail Management competition. In Fashion Design, you’ll submit an finished eveningwear garment and documentation of your design process. Win the local competition and get a $3,000 tuition scholarship to the Art Institute. The local winners are eligible for a national competition, and national grand prize winners are awarded a full-tuition scholarship to the Art Institute location they represent in the competition and a VIP trip to New York Fashion Week in February 2008. Deadline November 19.

More information and entry forms are available online at The Art Institutes Passion For Fashion Competition. Entry forms are also available at The Art Institute of Portland (1122 NW Davis).
