Sometimes the simplest thing can be the most devastatingly beautiful. A quail’s egg is lovely in its own right. In the hands of Portland-based designer Stephanie Simek, it becomes extraordinary. She lets it be the fragile thing that it is, embracing its broken edge, while making it glow from within with a 23kt gold plated interior. Lest you think it too fragile to swing form its 14kt gold chain around your neck, know that Simek coats the entire shell in epoxy resin for strength.

Meanwhile, Simek’s eyelash necklaces continue to get media notice in Bust and Marie Claire.

We think of this one as the “cry me a river.” ultra loves Stephanie Simek.
