Cut & Paste: It’s On
Cut & Paste digital design tournament rolls into Portland tomorrow. Eight contestants. Three 15-minute rounds. Themes for each round are provided one week in advance. 11 cities host this roving design-gladiator match where designers’ brilliant ideas, process, successes, and almost-ran-curio/monstro/sities are laid bare for audience and webcast-watcher alike to see (projected on big screens as the designers huddle over their Wacoms).
Portland’s contestants are Kris Kanaly, Jake Holloman, Eric Sellers, Mike Henderson, Tim May, Lap Le, William Elliot, and Crystal Beasley. Judges include PICA’s Kristan Kennedy, Eric Lawrence from Ziba, Jose Cabaco from W+K, Jason Bacon from Big Giant/UNKL, Josh Berger from Plazm.
ultra is not very secretly rooting for Lap Le. Look at this, made in collaboration with several others. Be patient. It takes a while to load. Be patient, it won’t do as much as you might expect it to. Enjoy the silence and un-clickiness of its broad horizons.
Cut & Paste is Friday, September 21 at 8 PM at the Wonder Ballroom (128 NE Russell).
