Apotheke bustled like a small European marketplace on Saturday, where nine local Portland boutiques held a collective sale event. The small, shared space was energized by jazzy Bjork and the chatter of salesgirls. Narrow paths between racks were crowded with eager shoppers bumping elbows as they hunted for deals on summer leftovers. In the upstairs loft, women tested their finds in makeshift dressing rooms, while husbands and boyfriends parked themselves at the bar and sipped Belgian beers. Shoefly shoes were 75% off, one of the better deals, and Moxie and Bubble had many attractive pieces for under $100. The synergy of Portland’s fashion scene was once again made visible—and affordable.
