As Portland ramps up for Portland Fashion Week, one of Portland’s finest fashion designers goes his own way, comme d’habitude. Adam Arnold’s runway shows have never conformed to the long-legged prancing the catwalk to the beats norm. He has alternated between studio shows reminiscent of atelier-based Paris couture shows of days past and conceptual shows (Esperanto voice over, models moving not at Butoh speed, but almost… or a show in which different colors are projected on the models to mess with our perception of the garments’ palettes). Regardless of presentation, Arnold’s tailors like no one else in Portland, making clean, expertly cut clothes for modern women and men. His subtly statement-making pieces in fine fabrics that he fits to each client are really the essence of luxury.
Adam Arnold will present his fall collection at an invitation-only event at his SE Morrison atelier (727 SE Morrison) on September 28 at 7 PM.
