ultra loves Liza Rietz. This fearless Portland-based designer and musician has a gift for making perfectly feminine and wearable pieces that have a distinctive and artful twist, her pleated ruffles a flourish, or mark of the artist’s hand on an otherwise sleek dress, for example. Her crisp notions of embellishment without sacrificing line are fierce and unique.

Rietz is set to open a studio/store at 2305 NW Savier with John Blasioli (who designs the men’s line, a broken spoke), that will feature both ready-to-wear and the possibility of custom pieces from both designers. The grand opening is slated for August. Your view to this best of all possible futures is Rietz’ trunk show this Friday, July 27 through Sunday, July 29 from 11-7 PM which serves as a mini-kickoff. All Liza Rietz will be 25% off for these three days, and her designs will continue to be available this weekend through to the official opening of the shop. Find summer linen jumpers, fitted cotton A-line dresses,vests, tunics and babydoll dresses in soft bamboo, as well as one-of-a-kind pieces.
