So it begins. If you’ve been paying attention, you know that Portland’s Museum of Contemporary Craft (724 NW Davis) has been on the move. After 70 years sequestered in an obscure SW location, the Museum is staking out a new central position on the North Park Blocks with one foot in the Pearl and one in Chinatown. Craft PDX: A Block Party, Sunday July 22 from 12-7 PM celebrates the Museum’s grand re-opening as well as the openings of all of the galleries newly installed in the DeSoto (formerly the Daisy Kingdom) Building: Blue Sky Gallery, Augen Gallery, Froelick Gallery, and Charles Hartman Fine Art.
The Block Party is going to encompass the wide, wide range of craft from Craft with a capital-C with a variety of artist demonstrations and the CRAFT IN AMERICA: Expanding Traditions traveling exhibition as well as lowercase craft(y) activities with DIY Lounge, Super Crafty, and Church of Craft, plus tours, music (3 Leg Torso! and many more), panel discussions, food and drink.

The opening of this building is a landmark moment for art and craft in Portland. You’ll want to say you were there on Day One.
