Fabricate Events is the new female trio of event planners in town - the welcoming Rosemary Stafford, Courtney Furniss and Sue Bradbury. “We are a design trio who love fashion, music, art and most of all shopping! So we decided to combine our passions and host an event modeled after some of our favorite fashion events that we love,” says Stafford. Their first event, Fabricate, an open market style fashion and art fair took place at the Wonder Ballroom all day Sunday. A first for me was a fashion show at 2 PM on a Sunday afternoon. Exuberant local media personality Nicole Camarata was the mistress of ceremonies as novice models made their way across a stage and paraded around the bazaar to music by Z100 DJ Dover.

The fashion show was divided into three “sets” named like the colors of lipstick. The first set, “Casual”, was another distinctly Portland t-shirt and jeans montage featuring designs by Sam Trout (above).

The second set, “Ornate Downtown”, showed effortless pieces like the leaf dress by Ellaina Boutique. Mary Ella Clothing focuses on alternative textiles like soy, hemp and bamboo to create delicate garments that are tough enough with denim.

The final set, “Nightlife Flirtatious” was defined by the dresses and pinafores of JenJoy, which are exclusively sold at www.myspace.com/jenjoydiy. For many reasons, our eyes were drawn to the white sheer dress with blue paisley collared detailing and matching billowing pockets.

Fabricate Events will make its appearance seasonally on the growing grid of Portland fashion.

If you’re into sustainability, check out Nau, Anna Cohen, and Sameunderneath as well as the Greenloop boutique.
