Coinciding with Elizabeth Dye’s trunk show today marking the launch of her Spring 07 collection, ultra’s latest point-of-view is the hour, featuring many of Dye’s spring looks shot by photographer, Octavia Hunter. There’s something at once wistful and subversive about Dye’s dresses that take the trappings of summer femininity — eyelet, ruffle, bow — add in seersucker and stripe, and rework them in contemporary shapes and lengths. Somehow one knows that the girl who wears them isn’t all sugar and spice.
