prince purple

This on the occasion of Prince doing 21 nights in London for his Earth Tour and the launch on July 7, 2007 (07-07-07) of 3121, his new fragrance.

3121 bottle

What is it that olifactorily captures the essence of Prince? Apparently, it’s complex, “a white floral scent” involving bergamot, jasmine, gardenia, orange flower, muguet (?), tuberose, ylang ylang, patchouli (bummer), sandalwood, cedarwood, and musk (duh). Whew!

You know you’d look hot in a Prince-like jumpsuit. Fire up the hi-fi. “I only want 2 see U, only want 2 see U in the purple rain.”

I would kick out the turberose and gardenia too. Way overdone. Orange flower, muguet with bergamot and cedar sounds promising. That doesn’t sound all that purple, though, does it?

Do you recall Murasaki by Shisheido? Purple bottle. Referred to Wisteria. It was heavenly.

No, it doesn’t sound too purple, does it? Overall, it sounds like a bull in a perfume shop.

    I love wisteria.
