Somewhere between Kubrick’s vision of a Clockwork Orange, 80s New Wave and/or metalband (which for all their respective preenings are far closer together than any member of either camp would ever cop to), and loungewear for space travel are these fab pants by Portland-based designer Genevieve Dellinger (available at her shop, Denwave at 811 E Burnside). She did them (sack pockets, diagonal insets and all) for men, in white (”Hey ladies!”), and women, in black, for the recent Installations show. It’s a tricked out geometry and light and shadow play in what otherwise would be, yes, leggings for boys. Really, it’s the next evolution in the march of the garment toward the body that Hedi Slimane had a hand in initiating at Dior for men. Are you game?
Stay tuned for the menswear show Dellinger and partner in Denwave, Hazel Cox, are concocting for early July.
