PICA’s going deep for its gala this year. It’s heart in the right place, the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art slyly acknowledges where much of the work showcased in its annual Time-Based Art (TBA) Festival originates before it makes it big on the contemporary performance circuit, calling this year’s gala TADA Underground. Two notes: One, it’s really under the ground. And two, we wish TADA were an acronym because then PICA’d be batting 3 for 3. Instead it’s just catchy.
