Why is Aussie Lipstick Queen Poppy King visiting Portland? Because Mario’s (833 SW Broadway) and Mario’s 3.10 are the only shops outside of LA and NYC (besides Barney’s) where you can find her Lipstick Queen counters. This is King’s second go at creating a line of lipsticks, her first ended when she took a position at Perscriptives. Now, the Lipstick Queen rides again with ten lipstick shades, in sheers she calls, “Saint” and mattes for the “Sinner.” Having paved the way with her first lipstick line, Poppy, for the many eccentric smaller cosmetics companies to come, (Urban Decay, Hard Candy, BeneFit, Stila come to mind) King is still fighting the good fight for a retro glamour that many Portland girls love. She’ll be at Mario’s 3.10 ( 17031 SW 72nd Ave, Tigard) on Saturday morning at 11 AM.
