Big news for modern dining in Portland as Bruce Carey Restaurants (Bluehour, Saucebox, 23Hoyt) takes over clarklewis. Seems like a great fit that will give a definite future to one of Portland’s best restaurants that has been put through a well-publicized drama mill recently with the abrupt and bizarre flight from town of one of its principals, Michael Hebberoy. It gives Carey a presence on the Eastside that he’s been talking about since before opening 23Hoyt. In a letter to the community, Carey promises what sounds like a gentle transition, the only initial change being not in the kitchen, but in the dining room…ever as concerned about comfort and style as great food, Carey will bring in new chairs.
WHAT TO DO NOW?
