The Power of the Purse pairs local notables with local designers to create one-of-a-kind bags (like the above collaboration between Ann Schatz of Momentum Communication with Nike ID) auctioned off to benefit an Economic Literacy program for Girls, Inc. This year, Power of the Purse happens on Thursday, April 5 with a live auction at the Portland Art Museum. You’ll find designs by Gus Van Sant, Arlene Schnitzer, Lucy Brennan (Mint), Emily Powell, and Kevin Cook (Poison Waters) in collaboration with talented designers like Jennifer Sturmer (Jenesse), Denise Kortes, and Maya Moon.
