Say you like your social networking website a bit more focused than the free-for-all that is Myspace. Perhaps a “niche network” or community of self-selected folks who appreciate/engage in DIY interior decorating and home improvement is up your alley? Meet Curbly, the oddly named (but then we got over the oddness of Google and Yahoo, didn’t we?) social networking site that invites you to, “Love where you live.”

Launched only a couple of months ago by Bruno Bornsztein and Ben Moore from Minneapolis, the site is already lively with good ideas and over a thousand members sharing “member-generated content”…in the how-to, inspiration, news sections…there are pleas for help with a messy desk, notes on the perfect hostess gift, numerous mentions of IKEA and this useful little origami project How to Make a Folded-Paper CD Case. And as an exemplar of the Brave New Web many-to-many moment, the site is as bloggy, taggy, and buddy-ish as you’d expect. You might meet a whole new cadre of friends, people who paint their living rooms in stripes or make window blinds out of computer punch cards. Good fun.
