Her usual material is fiber, but Portland-based designer LeBrie Rich (you’ll know her line PenFelt) is experimenting with plastic! The innovative result—made of recycled plastic bags ironed together and sewn up with polyester thread—is a vibrant raincoat bringing to mind paper dresses, 80s graphic color, Freitag bags, and FRUITS. It’s interesting too, leaving the logos intact…kind of a commentary on the logos we’re willing to wear emblazoned on our chests, our bags, providing, in effect, free advertising for corporations. So far these aren’t in production. Consider it your first look.
