…and other Wendy’s, like powerhouse independent designer Wendy Mullin of Built By Wendy, whose work you’ll find now at The English Dept.
Wendy Mullin kicks our asses. She’s been DIYing since before the acronym was coined. Back in ‘91 she started a business selling her handmade clothing, but we all heard about her because of her custom guitar straps. Now, she’s an Industry, having designed for Wrangler, done patterns for Simplicity (”Built by You”), and written a great book about how you too can do-it-yourself. Her Sew U is the best intro to sewing book we’ve ever seen, putting real customization powers in the hands of the average girl or guy with a sewing machine.
Here in Portland, you’ll find pieces from the Built By Wendy fall collection at The English Dept. (724 NW 23rd). While you’re there, remember that the TED Bundle Up sale is still happening with all coats and sweaters at least 20% off through November 15.
WHAT TO DO NOW?
