Atomic Ranch mag throws Pasadena over for PDX

A warm welcome to Jim Brown and Michelle Gringeri-Brown who’ve recently moved to town with their fab quarterly mag, Atomic Ranch, a celebration of post-WWII (1948-1970s) ranch homes and “Modernist tract homes” (interiors, renovations, landscaping and more). Brown is a photographer, Gringeri-Brown is a writer, and together they’ve been putting out Atomic Ranch since Spring 04.

Fitting they’ve come to Portland. Because ranch homes are fewer and farther between in PDX than in, say, California, these homes are often lavished with mid-century love here rather than taken for granted. We asked Michelle what brought her to Portland, (like we didn’t have an inkling). She cited the climate as well as, “all aspects of the greenness of Portland.” With a mobile business, they realized they could live anywhere and she’s wanted to live in Portland for a while. And did they find a great ranch home in Portland? You bet. Atomic Ranch is run out of their brick ranch in Eastmoreland.
