Sorry, you’re too old. Why oh why didn’t we invent this when we were kids? Because we didn’t have moms like Tacee Webb.

A girl who didn’t get into the Rock n’ Roll Camp for Girls might have moped away her summer. Not Palace. Tacee Webb’s daughter decided that mom should put together a Fashion Design Camp for she and her friends and a few lucky other campers. And being the same Tacee Webb whose fashion acumen has touched Red Light, American Apparel, and the incoming shop Brother Sister (919 NW 23rd), she swung for the fence on this one. You just wish you were between the ages of 8 and 16, because if you were—boy or girl—you’d be taking workshops on retailing (with Blake and Holly and Kate from Seaplane), and design (Niki Eatman, LA) patternmaking, illustration, fashion history, fabric, belt making, reconstruction, silkscreening, and sewing, plus selling online with designer, Joel Vega. It’s fairly brilliant that the camp acknowledges the entrepreneurial energy that has to be nurtured to make a success in fashion, if that’s where the young campers end up heading.
The camp will be held August 7-11 from 9-3 at the future home of Brother Sister (919 NW 23rd), and the whole thing wraps with a benefit Camp Fashion Show on Friday August 11 at 7 PM. The cost for the week is $85.
Tell your little sister and brother, niece and nephew to get their applications in quick. Only a couple handfuls of campers will get in this year. Fashion Design Camp
