Stick us in the Wayback Machine, are those jellies? Yes, and no. The Brazilian invention has been an on-again off-again shoe craze, but this time, Melissa, the Brazilian jelly brand, is teaming up with some heavy-hitting design talent like Karim “Mr. Ubiquitous” Rashid, Alexandre Herchcovitch, and the Campana Brothers.

The results are pretty devastating, considering the shoes are made of molded vinyl (bringing to mind galoshes…how practical in Portland). Did we mention the vinyl is scented?

Melissa also teamed Campana with hot Parisian boutique, Colette, for a shoe that reads like old school slip-on Van’s meet silly string. Leave it to one of our own Colette-like emporia like Seaplane to bring these slick little wonders to Portland. Witness the “ultragirl” (yes!) modified ballet slipper.

Will the shoe-forward among you be wearing jellies again in the days to come? According to the Magic 8 Ball, “Signs point to, ‘yes’.” u
