One By One Design
What caught our eye in the list of who’s craftin’ whom for this month’s installation of Crafty Wonderland—the DIY/craft bazaar—at the Doug Fir? Yes, you will find modern takes on the crocheted, embroidered, the silkscreened, the repurposed, the letterpressed. You will find jewelry, handbags, felt stuffed animals, leather goods. And you will be supporting local makers.
Rachel Austin
But you will also find work by One By One Design, Brennan Conaway’s design concern (they mostly do custom furniture work so we’re interested to see what they bring to Wonderland), and mixed media work by Rachel Austin whose paintings we loved at a recent Crema show. Austin’s stripped down organic elements, sometimes reminiscent of modern Scandinavian textile designs, are delicious. Her paintints are also at Cafe Voila (901 SW Washington) through July. Go see.
