It won’t be until September that we’ll be able to see the results of the Armory Building gut and rebuild. That’s when the new home of Portland Center Stage is expected to be complete, christened the Bob and Diana Gerding Theater (though we’ll insist on calling it the Armory). Take a beautiful, 100-year-old brick shell, trick it out to achieve the Green Building Council’s Platinum LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification, and you have another diamond in the Pearl-y crown. God we love this city. If you’re an impatient cuss unable to wait another minute to get a sneak peek at this project, you can go to Design Within Reach (1200 NW Everett) tonight where Stephen Domreis of GBD Architects will talk it and walk it (virtually) through over drinks and snacks. 7 PM.
