Chambers (207 SW Pine) gallery director Eva Lake is particularly excited about the show she has opening this week. Smaller scale works by Portland painter Horia Boboia and French artist Guy Martelet. From a distance, Martelet’s guache paintings appear to be slightly off-kilter, airy collages, the Audobon illustration bird dangles upside-down in negative space. It’s not until one gets closer that they reveal themselves as finely wrought paintings. Boboia’s Spring Collection is a collection of “odd costumed characters, a fashion parade gone wrong.”
A reception for the artists will be held this Thursday, May 18 from 5:30 to 8:30.
