Offcuts

Offcuts by Brenda Mallory

The new kid on the block, Jenene Nagy and Josh Smith’s Tilt Gallery and Project Space (625 NW Everett, Suite 106), only opened in February and is definitely one to watch.

This month, Tilt opens a show of Brenda Mallory’s work. Offcuts is a series of structures PNCA grad and RACC grantee Mallory has built using elongated cloth ovals that have been burned, waxed, crushed, stretched, rolled, sewn, and bolted together. The simplicity of the premise, to start from a single material unit, then manipulate and combine to explore form, is appealing.

Offcuts opens with a reception for Mallory on First Thursday, April 6 from 6-9 PM. There will be an artist talk Friday April 21 at 7:30. The show runs April 4-29, 2006 with regular hours Friday and Saturday 12-5.
