Q6 Showcase

Basil Childers, one of the photographers featured at q6 during The Affair.

With q6 talent in its new digs in The Jupiter Hotel, and in their very visual business, it’s natural Justin Habel and Jonny Shultz would get something good together to coincide with this weekend’s art fair, The Affair @ The Jupiter Hotel. Shultz has curated a show of many of Portland’s top fashion photographers including the brilliant Basil Childers whose photography elevates the pages of the Portland Monthly as well as providing poetic document of the work of numerous Portland performing artists and designers, and Paul Hernandez whose simply evocative editorial work is extraordinary.

The full line-up of talented photographers showcased at q6 will include Kristy Charroin, Paige Craig-Apodaca, Ray Gordon, Paul Hernandez, Marne Lucas, Manny Minjaurez, and Sophie Pangrazzi. The exhibition will be on view at q6 from 5-7 PM on both Affair days, Saturday and Sunday October 1 and 2.

It’s On

The Portland Art Museum opens a wing, the Affair takes over the Jupiter Hotel with rooms converted to instant, temporary galleries, a handful of new galleries throw open their doors, the warehouse show, Fresh Trouble, shows ‘em how it’s done, how could the visual arts news get any more interesting than this? It looks like Disjecta gets the Templeton Building, that’s how. Now the fun begins.

e15 in PDX at ID

LT01 SEAM ONE took the Red Dot Award for Product Design 2005

Mark your calendars. Intelligent Design marks the opening of their new showroom display in the Jeff Kovel/skylab-designed Alder building (at 537 SW 12th and Alder) with a reception for e15 founder, owner, designer Florian Asche on October 13 from 5-8 PM.

e15 was founded by architect Philipp Mainzer and Florian Asche in London. Now based in Germany, the line includes pieces by a number of noted designers. The aesthetic is Modern but with a focus on materials and craft, so that the wood or the leather takes center stage in clean designs.

Interesting note: designers can schedule a presentation with Asche while he’s in town. Email ID for more information at info@idcollection.net.
